Development Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Development Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the organization’s fundraising plan, which includes grants, fundraising events, and donor giving.
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conceptualize and write compelling proposals for private and public funders, including complex proposals that require close collaboration with the leadership team and staff.
- Ensure all application materials (narratives and attachments) are of the highest professional quality and all deadlines are met.
- Generate accurate and timely responses for all due diligence requests and/or grant reports during and after the grant agreement.
- Research new prospective foundation donors to identify organizations with giving criteria that match Moody Clinic’s mission to acquire additional grant revenue for the organization.
- Actively cultivate and manage relationships with grant program officers, institutional funders, donors, and community partners.

FUNDRAISING & EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the leadership team, board of directors, and staff to help coordinate and execute annual fundraising events.
- Develops, leads, and executes solicitations to secure fundraising event sponsorships.
- Ensure that all acknowledgments and donor letters related to events are planned and directed accordingly.
- Help direct all event support staff and volunteers.
- Work with the marketing team to create and produce event-related materials and promotions.
- Manage all aspects of the Annual Giving campaign, including direct mail and online solicitations.
- Work with the marketing team to develop and produce materials for the Annual Giving campaign.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Complete any assignment and project related to fundraising and special events as needed.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervisor or Leadership Team.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of trends, processes, and ethics in grant writing.
- Demonstrated skills in writing and editing.
- Ability to analyze complex information and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
- Ability to meet established deadlines.
- Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals; multi-line phone system.
EDUCATION:
You must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, or related fields.
EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of experience in communications, journalism, grant writing, non-profit management, or related fields.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Travel within the city is required. Possession of an appropriate valid Texas driver’s license and insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment, exposure to computer screens, frequent contact with the public. Continuous sitting. Some lifting and carrying.
